Debunking Dental X-ray Myths
There are a lot of dental myths available on the Internet – but listening to all of them can keep you from optimizing your dental health and actually damage your mouth!
One HUGE myth is around the potential dangers of dental x-rays. Dental x-rays are important for your overall oral care, because they allow our dentists to see things before they become visible or cause you pain.
The Myth
Because x-rays can require a low level of exposure to radiation, some people worry that it could negatively affect their health in the long run, from cancer to heart disease.
However, you will be exposed to less radiation during a dental x-ray than you do just going about daily life! In every part of life, there is background radiation. Walking through an airport scanner introduces you to up to 80 times the amount of regular background radiation than you normally experience, but that doesn’t stop you, right?
Dental x-rays have way less radiation exposure, and you are protected from the already minimal radiation exposure during x-rays through the use of tools like a special apron. Don’t risk your oral health. These x-rays allow us to treat you early to maintain overall well-being and save you money and unnecessary pain before problems become big. Goldstein Dental Group Wishes You a Happy New Year 2021
A Year in Review
While this year was full of unexpected challenges, we do have plenty to be grateful for here at Goldstein Dental Group. We have welcomed a new doctor, Dr. Park, who has been a wonderful addition to the team. Along with Dr. Park, we have added a few talented ladies that we are proud to now call part of our dental family. Though our team has expanded, we wanted to congratulate our hygienist Laurie who has now been with us for 10 years! We are truly thankful for her dedication to our practice and our patients. As grateful as we are for the changes to our practice, we have to take a moment to tell you, our patient, thank you. Without you, none of these changes would have been made possible, and we are truly grateful for your continued support and trust over the years. We wish you and your family a happy and healthy New Year.
